Kyousuke never would have thought there would be a day where he might know more than Ryoko. But he supposed that, in this situation, he could put himself in her son's place. He was in a somewhat similar position with his family. And it was going well. To a point. But Ryoko was dealing with too much right now for Kyousuke to think he should burden her with his own struggles. Maybe he could just go out a little more. His father didn't like the way he dressed at times, but he still preferred it to the 'thugs' he claimed Kyousuke used to hang out at the boxing club he trained in. It was just a matter of wondering how many classes he could skip before getting an earful from the man.
He stared at his friend. He could tell she was still worried she may lose her son. "You know I struggled settling in that school. How many times did I run back home back then?" Or to Ryoko, since she was his closest friend. Even if it was to be told he had an amazing chance he shouldn't give up on at the first obstacle. It was wort, just to feel like there was another place where he could belong should it not work out. "There's a limit how much money can buy. And I doubt Hideo or his father would have time for Taiki. Probably the same for his grandmother. That would mean being raised by people who are paid to care, or by his mother who wants to. I'd say the choice is obvious."
He smiled, hoping those cookies would help lift up the mood a bit. "Awesome! Why did I think you wouldn't have something prepared," he teased. Probably because she had so many things on her plate already that it was a miracle she still found the time to bake things as well. "Do you need help with Taiki or you're good?" The little boy might be more comfortable in his bed, but perhaps Ryoko preferred to keep an eye on him. It wasn't like he couldn't just sleep here while they finished their meal. But Kyousuke also wondered if she had planned to give him a bath or something before he invited himself, albeit with food.
