Yui didn’t believe that Kyousuke was a weirdo, she rarely judged a book by its cover and most of the time, it did her a favour. She ended up having unexpected friends and people she could count on her, no matter what. She believed that being like this added dimension to the world she was living in as she was able to socialize with all types of personalities. She wasn’t looking for an explanation as to why he was wearing such clothes. He could do whatever he wanted, and besides, if she was to ask him one thing, it was makeup tips. She only didn’t feel close enough to him to go that far though. It might be too much for a first meeting but who knows, she might end up doing so if they were to meet in a closer future. Maybe it was his hangout spot for Karaoke, she wondered how she never noticed him before whenever she went there on her own.
“Oh that wasn’t a problem, it’s just unfortunate that not a lot of people help around nowadays.” She said with a sigh. Was it because of the way he was dressed up? She thought he could be a pretty lady and people would be willing to help. They might be surprised to hear his voice once he spoke but it wasn’t the biggest issue.
“Tonight I’m alone, I like to come here for practice and since it’s soundproof people don’t hear it if I sing false notes.” She told him. It was much less embarrassing than it was.

Kyousuke was tempted to say that not that many people helped at Ouran. But did he admit he was from the school as well? He wasn't sure anymore between what he said and what he thought she got from him. He did ask if she was from Ouran, maybe she assumed he was from there also. Just in case, he didn't say anything. There were some nice people, and surely there were some at school as well, but he suffered a lot as well, so he was not surprised they weren't as helpful as people should be with each other.
He might not have given this impression to her right now, but Kyousuke was a sociable person. He was just a bit shy at times. Being hurt made him want to be around people but he had some difficulty opening up at first. Still, he didn't want to be ean to someone who had been nice to him, not when he was willing to call out others when they acted that way. But he knew he would have to explain himself.
Had she said she was with a group, he would have let her go. He wouldn't have joined either. She might not have recognized him but others might and he wanted to keep those two aspects of his life separated. But she was alone so...
"You can join me if you want, unless you really are afraid of people hearing sing out of tune," he suggested. Right, she paid for her booth, maybe she wouldn't be interested. That was dumb of him. "I'm not trying to flirt or anything. I'm not weird either. I'm..." He wanted to scratch his head, remembered he was wearing a wig and groaned instead. "That did not come right. I'm sorry. It's nothing." Too bad Ryoko and Izumi were either busy with Taiki or work to do that sort of things. None of this would have happened had he been with them.

Yui didn’t think that Kyousuke was a mean person, and it was for that reason she was speaking to him. While she was trying her best to be agreeable to others, she still knew when to get out and leave someone at peace. She wasn’t sure where he stood yet, for sure, but she didn’t think he was going to push her away. He didn’t seem rude, he might just be busy to his karaoke room. She would be too, as she was looking forward to picking up songs and singing them as much as she wanted. It was a guilty pleasure of hers and she wanted to make the most out of it.
She couldn’t hide her surprise when he actually invited her to sing with him. She pondered over it for a moment, it was true that she had paid for her room but it wasn’t too expensive either, and she was intrigued by him, she wanted to know his tricks! It was silly but she really was curious about how he did that and she might end up having a great friend in the end. “Oh that’s alright, I wouldn’t mind joining you if you really want me to.” She said with a smile. It surely was going to be an interesting evening if he turned out to want to have her company. She rarely let people down whenever they wanted to be with her, unless they were creepy people then she might have something to say about it.

Maybe it was because Kyousuke didn't like being alone. He was willing to used that as an excuse. He didn't need to be interacting with people at all time, but he enjoyed having people around him. It calmed him somehow, to just be part of a group, even when he barely talked. But he didn't have quite a group to go out with when dressed up that way. It never stopped him from hitting clubs and bars and have fun with others around but it wasn't the case right now.
He might be making a mistake by inviting Yui. She was from his school and he always tried to keep a distance between those two aspects of his life. She looked surprised that he invited her, so he figured she would turn him down. It was one thing to be nice to him, it was another to spend time with him like that. And it might be best not to. He was about to tell her to forget about it but he barely had the time to mouth out the first word that she was agreeing to it. He shut up then and was now the one looking surprised. He shouldn't, since he invited her, but he was.
"Oh, ok. Hmm... do you need to get anything from your booth?" She might have a bag, a coat or other things she might want to bring in with her. Or just food and drinks. Thinking of it... "Do you want me to order something for you?" He did order something for himself not that long ago but the staff was here precisely to bring in things whenever asked to. He assumed he could also just pay for more time if they ended up staying longer. Again, he doubted the place would mind, as it meant more money to them.
He then realised that she did give her name but he never gave his, thinking it was safer that way. But she was joining him now. "By the way, my name is..." He hesitated for a brief second. He shouldn't give his father's name. "Watabe Kyousuke." It was not a lie. It used to be his name for years, before his father took him in. He didn't bother changing the msculine 'suke' for a more feminine 'ko'. He made it obvious he was a man, despite his current look. And he didn't want her to think he was trans when he was not.

Yui noticed the change in Kyousuke’s features when he was surprised that she had agreed. Should she have not? There were parts of his personality that reminded her of her, and since they were both alone and he was dressed like a woman, she doubted that if she ever sang a song in a bad way, that he would judge her, no? Besides, she tended to like hanging around with others even though she liked having her moments. It was better to be surrounded by people and feel appreciated than to be surrounded by people who ignored you.
“Yes, I have my coat, I can go and get it; it shouldn’t take me long… are you sure you want me around though?” She wanted to prevent any misinterpretation that she might have done. Maybe he wanted to have some peace, she knew a few people were more solitary than she was but she figured it had to do with the fact that she was forced to be that way and never ended up liking it much unless she was at this place. “Oh, no thank you, I’ll order something later if I am hungry.” She assured him. She didn’t want him to feel like he owed her anything other than makeup tricks!
“This is nice to meet you Watabe-san, my name is Iwamoto Yui.” She said to him with a light and polite bow. It was true that they didn’t even know each other’s names, that was quite a funny and weird meeting!

Was it the outfit that did it? In a way, a lot of the personality he showed when dressed like this was similar to what he used to be in the past. Exaggerated a bit, maybe, but a lot similar. It was a side not as shown at school though. He got hurt too much to dare be this way, plus he ended up with so much expectations put upon himself to remain that way. The crossdressing was a way he found to express this side and this side of him loved company and wanted to think the best out of people. Even if the fact that she went to Ouran played against her, he ended up inviting her to join him.
She was now the one asking if he was certain he wanted her around. He was not polite to the point of inviting strangers to join him just because he crossed their paths. "Yes, if you don't mind. I don't think I'm that great of a singer either, mind you." He thought his voice might be too high when he sang, or too low, depending on the song. And he was not even talking of that kansai dialect that was coming out of nowhere to make him sound aggressive at times. He learned the art of looking like a bad boy, if he failed to become one himself.
Seeing how much he drank his beer already, Kyousuke figured he could order another one for himself, and something for her as well, but he was not sure what she would like. Not all women enjoyed beer. Since she said no for now, he couldn't order anything for her at the moment.
He felt a little bad for lying to her, although he tried to convince himself it wasn't that much of a lie, considering it used to be his name. Ryoko called him that for years. It had been so funny, Watabe and Watanabe. That wouldn't confuse people at all. At least he gave his real first name. He nodded as she said her name again. This time though, he'll make sure to remember it. "I'll let you get your things then," he said. If it was just a coat, he didn't think she would need his help. There might be food and drink, if she bought any already. But she did not mention that, so he didn't think that she had some as well.

Yui had no ideas that Kyousuke was cautious around her. She did feel him a bit tense, but she put it on the account that he might not be used to talking to girls dressed like that. Luckily for him, she couldn’t care less about that, he was nice, and she was the one who took the first steps in helping him when his purse opened. She felt bad for him to happen but in the end, she thought that he had the potential to be a good friend of hers if they gave it a chance. Besides, she was curious too and didn’t think one second that he could be from Ouran Academy.
She smiled when he assured her that he wanted her company and nodded. “Alright then and don’t worry, Karaoke is always a guilty pleasure of mind and I promise I won’t judge.” She didn’t care he might not be the best singer, after all, she went there a few times with Makiko and the guys on a few rarer occasions too.
She nodded and went to get her things. Luckily, she didn’t install herself properly enough to have to bring a lot of things there. She barely even started so she grabbed her coat and went back to him in no time. “What kind of music do you like to sing, Watabe-san?” She asked him when she arrived, curious about his tastes. Might as well get to know the person she’d spend the rest of her Karaoke night with!

Did Yui realised he was from Ouran too? He asked but he was not sure she made the connection that he was as well, since she didn't ask directly and he only dismissed it by saying he didn't come around here often. Maybe she would not realise it and he'd be safe. Kyousuke was not wearing a ton of makeup, so a lot of his features might be recognisable, but he still looked very different with a wig, a dress and some eyeliner. She might not be able to tell right away should she meet him at Ouran. He tried to relax knowing that. Because he would be quite stressed otherwise, having invited her to join him.
He wondered if they had the same taste in music. Probably not, but it was not like they had to sing only one genre. There would be plenty to choose from and if she wanted some girl band or idol group, she'd be able to while he picked others.
At first, he was weirded out by her calling him Watabe. It was the name he gave her, and it used to be his name. But no one had called him that in over eight or so years now. "Hip hop mostly. Or with some rap," he answered. He had a few bands he loved, since he could sing and dance on them, even when they were a little more pop. Plus those beats were perfect for training so they were obviously the songs he knew the best. "And you?" He somehow could not picture her singing rap, not even the more jolly ones. But he could be surprised. He was willing to let her sing first, if she wanted. Unless she felt too embarrassed to do it first, then he would, he supposed.

Yui was determined not to let things get too awkward between her and Kyousuke if they were going to spend the evening together. It was why she started doing a conversation with him, after all, they were going to sing what they enjoyed the most so it made sense she would ask him what his favourite genre of music was. She did not know that he was from the same school as she was. The school was big and while she tended to remember faces she couldn’t say she recognized him from anywhere, let alone Ouran.
“I enjoy pop rock and alternative.” She said to him with a smile. “though, I’m pretty open to all genres, I like discovering new music.” It was also part of her family business too hence her family ran an agency it made sense that she would know what was popular nowadays and who were the most famous idols of the time. She didn’t feel like telling him that detail though as she would usually have people enjoy her company for being Yui and not for being Iwamoto-san, the daughter of those who had one of the top agencies.
“I feel like we will have a good night.” She added with enthusiasm as she found out that they were enjoying different tastes. “You know how to rap?” she questioned him. She was willing to give it a try but it could be tricky having to speak fast, who knows how it would come out!

As long as he kept his makeup and wig up, Kyousuke figured he would be fine. She wouldn't recognize him with his voice alone, right? She would have already, he supposed. He should relax, think she was no different from Ryoko or Izumi. Why were so many of his friends women? Guys tended to say it was weird if a guy was surrounded by girls. He was either a player or gay. Kyousuke was neither, at least he didn't think he could be considered a player, so what was this about? Well, he shouldn't worry about it for now. He showed surprise when she admitted liking pop rocka nd alternative. Girls tended to mention pop, idols or female artists. Had she picked anything like that, he would have understood. Or some band known for making theme songs for anime, the shojo type. "We might end up with more bands in common than I thought," he admitted. True, he mostly mentioned hiphop, but rock could fit his style too. Wouldn't that be weird if he just found someone he could sing a song with? She said more of less the same thing, which he could nod to. He shrugged as she too sounded surprise, over the fact he could rap. "Maybe not freestyle, but I listen to enough rap songs to be able to follow along," he explained. He looked at the library of songs for one to give her a sample. He found one that played enough on music shows and radio for her to possibly have listened to, and he knew some parts weren't as quick so she could sing along on those if she preferred to backed out on the rest of the song. Yui had been glad to have found a possible friend out there. She thought that he wouldn’t be hard to find if she ended up seeing him dressed like a woman and in the karaoke place too. She didn’t mind having the company of boys as she was close friends with a few of them. They also had less drama involving them too which was nice when she didn’t want to hear about the latest rumours all the time. She felt like she didn’t need to do anything to impress him either, she always preferred it that way, especially when she wasn’t around family.
She smiled, even more, when he said that they might like some bands in common. She did enjoy some pop but she also liked the sound of an electric guitar. “That’s great then we will be good karaoke partners.” She said lightly. She supposed that showing up at her parents’ agency would open her eyes from time to time to different genres than the kinds she would usually stick to.
“That’s nice though, I can talk fast but there’s a limit to what I can do.” She admitted with a light laugh. She let him pick the song first, she was interested to see what he was into and when he started to play she knew of it. She smiled as she listened to him sometimes singing along with a few verses that she knew of as she enjoyed the melody.

Kyousuke found some entertainment in karaoke but the truth was that he often went there alone. It might sound sad, but it was still the case. He only kept rather superficial relationships with people from his school, so he didn't go out with them as much as others would. And while Ryoko, his best friend, could use more time out for herself, he wasn't sure she'd enjoy going to the karaoke. Anyway, in the past year or so, they mostly did activities that also involved her son, for obvious reasons. She already had so little time to spend with Taiki, with work, studies and all.
It was a bit weird then to be here with Yui. At first, he feared people might think they were on a date, then he recalled how he was dressed and figured no one would think that at all. They'd think they were just two girl friends out to have fun. No one would be weirded out about a girl and boy being just friends. He knew people found it awkward sometimes. They reacted that way often about Ryoko and himself. Club members was one thing, but other than that, there had to be feelings, right? It was silly, but it was how people saw things most of the time. Well, they wouldn't this time. Kyousuke wasn't sure if that made it more or less weird, should they found out who he really was.
He wasn't sure about being partners, at least not after tonight. "You often go there alone?" he asked. Because he wouldn't be comfortable having a bunch of girls from Ouran joining him when dressed like that. He'd be too scared of being found out, which would happen, if only when he'd sing.
With the song over, he looked at her, a tad embarrassed. He didn't think he was necessarily a good singer. He also sounded like some gangster when rapping at times. He handed her the remote so she could pick the next song from the library.

Yui did appreciate going to the karaoke alone for many reasons and one of them was that she could sing to her heart’s content without being judged by her friends. It was silly in a way because she knew that they would respect her but she did enjoy those moments with herself. Besides, she could pick whatever she wanted and enjoy her time here. In a way, she supposed it was partially because she was used to being alone. While she tried to socialize with everyone she could, she could also appreciate time with herself. She didn’t even stop herself from thinking of what others would think seeing her with Kyousuke. She never had those kinds of thoughts, which was why she was so easy to talk to at first. She never judged and gave a chance to the person who approached her. It was why she thought it was a bit weird when she had been able to have a conversation with Maemi. She would have to see what the best was for them. Besides, they studied in some classes together so it was one more person to count on for teamwork if she didn’t have Makiko around! She nodded at his question. “Yes, I like being here, some vent in gyms, I vent in karaoke.” She told him with a smile. While she might not appreciate her family as much as she should, she did like music and various forms of art too. She just wished they would pay more attention to her but she supposed that she should be happy with what she had so far. “You did good!” She said honestly. She looked through the library liking the variety of songs they could sing. For her first song, she decided to pick something lighter. It always got to her mainly when she first listened to it so when she picked it, she put it on and started singing along with it. She knew she wasn’t the only one, but she enjoyed songs with a deeper meaning. Song

Venting at karaoke? Well, he supposed he was the tye to vent at gyms, like she said. Boxing really helped him in that regard. Or it was dressing up like this, but Kyousuke was not sure it counted at venting. It was the way he found to be able to express a side of himself that he otherwise didn't have the right to, at school and at home. He feared the day he might be told to drop it for good. What else would he also have to leave behind? Ryoko? His mother? Probably not his mother, but certainly all that part of his life, despite it being how he came here in the end.
"What kind of song is good for venting?" he asked. She didn,t strike him as the type to listen to really loud, aggressive music. Maybe just singing as hard as she could some of her favourite song was enough for this.
He was a bit embarrassed when she complimented him on his singing. "Thanks. I don't do a lot of rap songs with others. I apaprently sound a bit too... gangster-like." He tried to laugh it off. It certainly wasn't a voice that should come out of someone dressed like he was, but she already picked up on that detail so he didn't need to play pretend. Although his voice was a lot softer when singing any other type of music. At lest the lyrics were a bit more joyful than what his voice could have led to believe.
Hers was, in a way, the reverse. There was some light but depressive undertone in the song. Was that what she meant by venting? Normally, he wouldn't think too much about the meaning of the song but now he wondered if he didn't jump into something far bigger than what he could handle. "Is that the kind of song you use to vent?" he asked her. He didn't know if he was going too far or if he was reading into it too much. Either way, he felt like he had to address something he wasn't not sure he wanted to, or should. Well, maybe she just love the artist or the song for what it was.

Yui didn’t call herself the depressive type. Sure, she might enjoy singing songs that might give others the wrong impression but she liked to sing what had a message underneath. She smiled when he questioned about venting songs and shrugged. “It mostly depends on my mood of the moment but sometimes, a good old rock song does the trick.” She admitted to him. She clearly didn’t give that kind of impression to others but she, just like anyone else liked to keep some of her secrets to herself. She didn’t know if she was even ready to share those with her closest friends.
“You think? That didn’t give me that impression. Rapping requires a lot of skills and being able to understand what you rap requires more too.” She said. She was able to see the talent under all kinds of genres. What she didn’t think was that the song might give him the wrong impression and she quickly shook her head at him.
“Oh not really, I just like the lyrics to this one, it’s so deep. I know what this song is about, don’t get me wrong, but I’m clearly not in that state of mind.” She wanted to assure him. It would be too weird for her to vent to him. Out of all people, she would probably talk to Ryohei or Daisuke feeling like she was closer to those. “I’m sorry if I worried you.” She added sheepishly, hoping he wouldn’t feel too bad about it or judge her for it either. She never intended to offend anyone here.
